Here at DiscovHER HEALTH, we care about treating woman with BARTHOLIN CYSTS.

Experts believe that the cause of a Bartholin’s cyst is a backup of fluid. Fluid may accumulate when the opening of the gland (duct) becomes obstructed, perhaps caused by infection or injury.

What is Bartholin Cysts?

The Bartholin glands are 2 cm long narrow openings at the 4 and 8 o’clock positions in the vulvar vestibule. These glands secrete lubrication during arousal. They can become obstructed and lead to the formation of a cyst or abscess. Most cysts do not need to be treated as they do not cause any symptoms.
Cysts are rare in women > 40 years old. Women > 40 with a suspected cyst should have a punch biopsy done.
